Checkly alternative
DontBreak vs Checkly
Checkly is a monitoring platform for developers who write Playwright code. DontBreak builds browser checks without code, for the people who own the flows. If your team already writes code, Checkly may well be the better fit. Here's how to tell.

Who each one is for
Checkly
Checkly is a monitoring platform for developers and SRE teams. Browser checks are Playwright scripts in TypeScript or JavaScript, kept in the app or in your repo, next to API, uptime and other monitors and status pages.
DontBreak
DontBreak is for product people, founders and agencies who own a checkout, signup or form and want to know when it breaks. You build each step in a live browser by choosing an action and pointing at the element, and DontBreak runs the flow on a schedule or after each deploy.

Which one to choose
Choose Checkly if…
- Your developers already write Playwright and want checks in Git, reviewed like any other code.
- You also want API, uptime, SSL and heartbeat monitors and status pages in one place, checked from many regions.
- You need EU data storage or SOC 2 Type II, or the lowest price per run: Starter includes 3,000 browser-check runs for $29 a month, and there's a free tier.
Choose DontBreak if…
- Nobody on the team has time to write and maintain Playwright code, and the people who own checkout or signup should be able to build checks themselves.
- You want Firefox without writing code, and email steps for signup or password-reset flows built in.
- Failures should open a Jira, GitHub or Trello ticket and close it when the check passes again.
Pricing compared
Same unit on both sides: one browser run. Checkly counts each location and each retry as a run, so the rows below assume one location and no retries.

- Prices are per month with annual billing; monthly billing is in brackets. US dollars, before tax.
- Checkly costs less per run. The trade-off is that someone writes and maintains the Playwright code.
- The 30,000-run range uses Checkly's published rates: prepaid extra runs at $4 per 1,000 on annual billing, or overage at $6.25 per 1,000 on Team.
- Checkly's status pages and AI root-cause analysis are priced separately.

Questions
- Checkly or Playwright on its own?
- Checkly runs your Playwright code as scheduled monitors, with alerts and dashboards. With Playwright on its own, you set up hosting, scheduling and alerts yourself. Both need someone who writes code; DontBreak doesn't.
- Does DontBreak do uptime or API monitoring?
- No. DontBreak checks browser flows such as checkout, signup and forms. If you also need uptime or API monitoring, pair it with a monitoring tool, or use Checkly for everything if your team writes code.
- Can I bring my Playwright tests to DontBreak?
- No. DontBreak doesn't import Playwright code. It works the other way round: you can export a DontBreak test as a Playwright script.
- Where is the data stored?
- Checkly stores data in the EU (Ireland). DontBreak runs on AWS in the US (N. Virginia).
